BAccLLB, Bachelor of Accounting/Bachelor of Laws – Stellenbosch University
Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) – Stellenbosch University
Marnus is a co-Founder at Pineapple. Pineapple, an insurtech startup based in Johannesburg, has secured seed funding of R5.2 million from Lireas Holdings in return for a minority shareholding. Pineapple is South Africa’s first peer-to-peer insurer and the world’s first fully-functioning decentralised insurer.
Currently, every claim an insurer denies ads to their bottom line. In the eyes of a consumer this is an inherent conflict of interest whereby the provider of the service is actually incentivised to not follow through on their promise. Pineapple aims to change this by introducing transparency, realigning incentive and reintroducing affinity into insurance through a complete revamp of the business model.
Marnus has completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB); Bachelor of accounting (Bacc); Honours in accounting. BAccLLB is an undergraduate degree allowing a student to obtain both the BAcc (accounting) and LLB (law) degrees within 5 years’ time. Currently there are just over 200 persons holding the BAccLLB degree.
Marnus is also a behavioural economics fanatic and has co-written leadership development programs for the University of Stellenbosch. In his spare time he is a part time boxer and a massive cricket fan.
